How do I love IRC? Let me count the ways:

i’m doing a testbuild that lists all contents of the image now there is no tmpfs mounted or anything, the image is 500M bigger than the filesystem requires but i still get space errors

Is the first work [sic] ‘not’ and the last word ‘clue’?

I came to a startling realization last night: Texas is growing on me. I know that sounds crazy, imagine how it sounded in my head. Think Charlton Heston mixed with Woody Woodpecker. I should really invest in speech therapy for the voices in my head.

While Sam and I are from Florida, we are becoming more Texan every day. We have a big SUV, ok so it’s a Honda. Sam now owns a pair of real boots. Sure they were cheap, but a cow gave its life for her feet.

What’s next? Hats? Belt buckles? Muddin’? I draw the line at Lone Star beer.

Ok, off to deep fry something.

Unleash the Hounds!

Ok, they aren’t hounds, they’re Beagles, as in BeagleBoards, and they just got a lot cooler. For anyone living under a rock, the BeagleBoard is an affordable single board computer with the TI OMAP 3530 processor

The BeagleBoard now runs Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. The beta is running now, and there will be live images on http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/ after the official release next week. If you want more info head over to the IRC channels #ubuntu-arm and #linux-omap on Freenode.

Equally cool, this works on TI Zoom2 MDPs as well. Touchscreens rule. Check out Graeme’s blog for more info.

The Great Karnak predicts you’ll see other flavors of dogs, candy, faster onomatopoeic boards, and even bears running this pretty soon too.

Maybe I’m a Luddite at heart. /me looks at N900, Droid, Nexus One, Canon DSLR on the desk next to the laptop running a Beta of Ubuntu 10.04 on which I’m typing this. Actually, that’s pretty unlikely. I’m just a little slow sometimes. For example, this is my first blog post. Which is an odd feeling, because as I’ve never had a post, no one follows me, waiting with bated breath (and trying not to pass out) for my next witty key stroke. This means I am officially talking, or at least typing to myself. If this is the craziest thing I do all week day I’ll be happy.

That said, it’s not like there aren’t some really famous other geeks who update their blogs with the frequency of Cicada swarms: Linus Torvalds for instance (http://torvalds-family.blogspot.com/) seems to average twice a month for the last couple of years. Ok, so he’s probably a lot busier than I am, but it’s hard to post from a American Airlines flight which is where I seem to spend most of my time. Well there or asleep. Even my bosom buddy Mike Turquette (http://turqee.tumblr.com/) has only managed roughly weekly.

I really prefer personal interaction. I don’t tweet or follow other twitterers much. I update my Facebook page when there is literally nothing else to do. It even comes after scooping the kitty litter. That said, I do hear by swear to post something at least twice a week (which might occasionally be interesting or insightful).

Please not in the face.
